Never Go on mountains without knowing these things

We plan vacations to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and we often try to make them more relaxing than tiring. We go to the mountains for vacation during the summer to escape the humid weather and heat.

Walking in the mountains, away from the city’s noise and pollution, provides a sense of peace and comfort. If you are planning a trip to the mountains for a vacation, here are some important things to remember.

Let’s take a look at the things one should pack in the bag before going to the mountains:

  • Warm Cloths

Don’t forget to pack your warm clothes when packing for a mountain vacation. Many people believe that after spending so much time in the heat, they will be able to handle the cold weather. They are, however, mistaken. The mornings and nights in the mountains are frequently cold, and you will need warm clothing to stay safe and warm.

  •  Boots

Who goes to the mountains and doesn’t like to hike? You never know when you’ll come across the perfect hiking trail. So, don’t forget to bring your hiking boots. They also aid in the formation of foot grip on both high and low paths.

  •  Power Bank 

We can never ignore our phones while on vacation, whether in the mountains or at the beach. The route to the mountains is frequently secluded, and finding the power to charge your phone becomes difficult. You must carry a power bank with you to avoid this situation. The power bank allows you to charge your devices while on the go.

  •  Raincoats and umbrellas

The weather in the mountains is unpredictable. It can change in a matter of minutes. If you plan to visit the mountains during the rainy season, bring raincoats and umbrellas to protect yourself from the rain and illness.

  • Medicines 

It is critical to bring your important medications as well as some basic items with you when traveling. Keep some medications on hand for common colds, coughs, and body pain. Keep some balm on hand to relieve headaches and other types of pain.

  • Check the weather forecast… And check again!

Check the weather forecast for the day before your trip before making any plans. There are many good apps available, or you can go directly to the website of the country you’re in. Remember that in mountainous areas like Shimla, Kasauli, and Manali(Weather in Manali ) the weather can be unpredictable. The local conditions can be quite different.

Check the weather forecast again before leaving on your trip on an actual day. It is possible that the circumstances have changed.

  • Don’t take unnecessary risk

The mountains are not without danger. If the terrain becomes too steep or dangerous to walk, use a rope and place gear or slings in between. If you don’t have a rope, consider returning it.

Always think about what could go wrong and plan for it. When there is a chance of a rock falling, wear a helmet. Take the time to learn how to construct a proper belay anchor. And, on the forehand, talk to your climbing partner about how you communicate when you can’t hear or see each other.

Even if you checked the weather conditions and they appeared to be fine, bad weather could still be on the way. Prepare by learning to recognize when bad weather is approaching and deciding when it’s safe to turn around.

  • Pack your Backpack

There is no one right way to pack. Experiment with different loading routines at home until you find what works best for you. It should feel good on your back. Wear it low on the hips or with the shoulder straps too tight.

Try packing it this way:

  1. Bottom zone: For lighter, bulkier equipment and items that will not be needed until later. For example, a raincoat or a first-aid kit
  2. Core zone: For denser, heavier items such as extra water, food, or climbing equipment.
  3. Top zone: ideal for traveling with lighter, bulkier essentials.

Wear what you need in an accessory pocket or somewhere you can easily reach, such as water, a map, sunglasses, or a quick snack.

  • Bring enough food & water

On a typical day, we must consume more than two liters of water. Because you are so active, it can easily be doubled on a day in the mountains, depending on the weather as well.

It is critical to bring enough water, but not too much because it will weigh you down. When planning your trip, look for wells or creeks on the map and bring a water filter with you. You won’t have to carry as much water, and you can fill up along the way. Because sometimes destinations like spiti have no facilities to greet you. By the way, the best time to visit Spiti Valley is from March to June. So, that spiti can greet you well.

Try to bring food that contains both carbs and protein. When you’re active all day, your body is in desperate need of protein.

For example, bring nuts with me.  keep them in my pocket and eat them whenever I get hungry. That way, you don’t have to stop to get food, and you don’t overeat!
